Cell Phone Recycling

Many people new to the river need a phone. You can buy inexpensive ones for about 100 Quetzals or $13.00 on the street but if you are only going to be here a short time, what do you do with it. Many people just write it off as an expense, but I had an idea. Why not recycle them?

If you have a phone from here, chances are that the chip is only good for "Central America" which does NOT include Belize, Mexico, the US and some other countries. IF you can change chips, you can sometimes bypass that inconvenience, but if not, I have an option for you.

I will buy used cell phones for Q25. I will in return, sell them for Q75 and rebuy them if they are still good for Q25 when you are done. In that way, you have a phone to use while you are here for Q50 plus whatever minutes you use. You just buy the time and use it as much as you want. If something happens to the phone, you bought it for Q75, I have learned that phones can survive, but they don't swim well.

Some phones are too pricey for you to want to sell for Q25 then I can always sell them in the shop for you. You will see others on the "Exquisite Junk" page that fall into that catagory.
